Homemade gummies are a fantastic way to control ingredients, especially for kids' snacks! You could follow up by highlighting the benefits of using natural ingredients, like fruit juices and natural sweeteners, and maybe add a note on how fun and easy they are to make together as a family.
Last year I posted a wonderful recipe for Homemade Candy Bars Reese's .
that won't destroy the immune system of your little ones. Today, I am sharing my children's favorite treat: homemade gummies.
These candies not only won't harm your children but can bring some healthy goodness to their bodies. This mama can sleep soundly knowing that her little ones are eating a healthy treat and one that they will enjoy and not turn up their noses!
I think for moms like me, this time of the year, especially around Halloween, is a horror time, not because of the scary yard decorations. It is the giving of chemically harmful candy being given out by friends and strangers who are unintentionally hurting my preciouses babies. I'm pretty sure most people wouldn't give to their pets what they are giving to humans. Reading labels is not something popular when it comes to candy. Just as I constantly encourage you to read the labels for other foods, reading labels for candy is just as important.
But trust me there are some better choices in the market for candies and treats. Please click on my Brigadeiros or Matcha Balls as great alternatives treats with no harm.

Why Homemade Gummies?
Making gummies at home is a fun and rewarding way to enjoy these chewy delights without the artificial ingredients often found in store-bought versions. Whether you're making them for kids, special occasions, or just a healthy snack alternative, homemade gummies are surprisingly simple to create and customizable with your favorite flavors and shapes. And can be a great way to sneak in good ingredients here and there.
Tips for Perfect Gummies
Control the chewiness: If you like your gummies firmer, increase the gelatin slightly. For a softer texture, use a little less. If your molds are large, I recommend increasing the amount of gelatin.
Natural coloring options: Use ingredients like beet juice (for red), turmeric (for yellow), spirulina (for green), or pea tea (for blue) to avoid artificial colors.
Storing gummies: Keep your gummies in the fridge to maintain their texture and freshness. Homemade gummies don’t have preservatives, so they won’t last as long as store-bought ones.
On the key ingredient: Gelatin
Collagen, is typically referred to as plain gelatin, which I like to purchase the kind that comes from grass-fed cows. The source from which it comes is extremely important. Collagen (gelatin) is a superfood. Why? Because it was a staple in the human diet for centuries, when bone broth was eaten on a daily basis. The particular amino acids in collagen (gelatin) are very beneficial to our bodies that support healthy cell growth and reproduction. It benefits your joints, skin, nails, improves digestion, and can be a source of protein in your diet. Due to our current modern lifestyle for convenience, we are not getting enough collagen in our diet. Making your own broth is a good way to add collagen to your diet. Let's make them...
Prep time: 1 minute
Making time: 30 minutes
Total time: 31 minutes
Author: innichkachef.com
Ingredients:
1 cup fruit juice (we used grape and carrot)
2-3 tbsp honey or maple syrup (to taste)
2 tbsp gelatin powder (unflavored)
2 tbsp flavored kombucha (optional)
Silicone molds (for shaping the gummies)
Optional Add-ins for immune boost:
Vitamin C powder
Elderberry syrup for an immune boost
Flavored kombucha (probiotic boost)
Pureed fruit for extra texture and flavor
A pinch of citric acid for a tart finish
A pinch of Celtic salt for minerals
Directions
Prepare the Fruit Juice Base: Pour 1 cup of your chosen fruit juice into a small saucepan. If you’re using a sweeter juice, you may want to reduce or skip the honey. Adjust sweetness to taste.
Add Gelatin: Gradually whisk in the gelatin powder, ensuring no lumps form. Let the mixture sit for about 5 minutes to allow the gelatin to bloom.
Heat and Dissolve: Turn the heat to low and gently heat the mixture, whisking continuously until the gelatin completely dissolves. Make sure not to boil it—just warm enough to blend everything smoothly.
Add Sweetener and Flavor Enhancements: Once the gelatin is dissolved, stir kombucha or other optional ingredients, such as fruit puree, to give your gummies an extra punch.
Pour into Molds: Carefully pour the mixture into silicone molds of your choice. These can be fun activities for kids.
Chill: Place the molds in the refrigerator and let the gummies set for at least 1-2 hours.
Enjoy or Store: Once firm, pop the gummies out of the molds. Store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
