Here it is, my dear friends, hands down the best pumpkin latte.
I AM TALKING ABOUT the best and healthiest pumpkin pumpkin latte! This homemade Pumpkin Latte is made with wholesome ingredients, such as real pumpkin and no sugar. It is delicious and dairy-free! This copycat pumpkin spice latte is also incredibly quick and easy to whip up in a hurry. You only need 5 minutes and 5 ingredients! I think it tastes even better than the Starbucks original!
Yes, better for your taste buds and definitely better for your body.
Pumpkin latte is a relatively new thing in American cuisine, and it's the new generation's favorite drink, for sure. Especially this time of the year, pumpkin latte is the coffee drink of choice.
Starbucks is a popular place for people to conduct business meetings, and to catch up your caffeine fix when on the go. But even if you are not a health fanatic and are somewhere in the middle on a scale of 1 to 10, you should NOT consume Starbucks pumpkin lattes or in fact any coffee from Starbucks.
We all know Starbucks coffees are not cheap, but most people don't know that regular consumption of their products are a serious source of pesticide exposure and ingredients that harm your health. Also the chemicals that they use to roast their coffee beans have cancer links.
But have you ever wondered what is in your pumpkin late?
Real pumpkin?
Real pumpkin spice?
Real sugar?
The truth is NONE of the above. PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE has nothing to do with real pumpkin.
But here is what is in a pumpkin latte made at Starbucks:
Besides the coffee, and milk both of which are not organic, here is a list of what is contained in their pumpkin lattes:
Sugar: in a massive amount and many forms.
Natural Flavors: It’s not just pumpkin spices that make the this drink taste so delicious. Starbucks adds Natural Flavors, which is actually a top secret of their formulation that contains preservatives, emulsifiers, solvents and other additives (which could be: sodium benzoate, glycerin, potassium sorbate, and propylene glycol – none of which are labeled).
Mono and Diglycerides: This emulsifier is a byproduct of oil processing – including canola and soybean oils – which may contain trans fat.
Carrageenan: This ingredient in Starbucks whipped cream is a thickener linked to digestive issues and cancer.
Potassium Sorbate: You’ll find this preservative in many of Starbucks drinks, including the Pumpkin Latte. This ingredient has been shown to be genotoxic to white blood cells, which could lead to cancer as well.
Caramel color: It's brown, people, coffee is brown! Why on earth do you need a caramel color? But here you risk your health by using caramel color in your diet, check it out here.
All these chemicals are extremely harmful to our bodies!
For your own health, please skip all the above and make your own!
What Do I need to make 2 generous portions?
Pureed pumpkin, canned is fine, make sure its plain pureed pumpkin and NOT pumpkin pie filling!
Coconut milk, canned is fine, room temperature!
Maple syrup, the real maple syrup!
Strong coffee or even better use a 2 shot of espresso!
Pumpkin spice!
THAT'S IT!
5 MINUTES OF YOUR TIME & 5 EASY TO FIND INGREDIENTS!
Notes:
Choose canned coconut milk that doesn’t use BPA liners.
Coconut whipped cream is super easy to make just remember to put your coconut milk into the fridge overnight. The next day, take the can out of the fridge, open the top and scoop out the hardened part of the coconut milk and whip it with coconut sugar, maple syrup or use as it is.
I used regular organic homemade whipped cream, that I whipped the night before.
When buying cream, even organic, look at the label because the ingredients vary per brand.
